ClearSky Signs Multi-year Agreement with GCI for Hosted WAP, MMS, Content and More
Alaskas largest telecommunications company will offer ClearSkys comprehensive mobile data services
to subscribers on its GSM and CDMA networks
October 29, 2008 (Orlando, Fla.) - ClearSky Mobile Media, Inc., a leading provider of managed services and content
to wireless carriers, today announced a new long-term contract with General Communication, Inc. (GCI) to deploy its
full suite of wireless content and data services. GCI, located in Anchorage, Alaska, is a leading telecommunications
company that owns and operates GSM and CDMA networks in Alaska under two distinct brands, GCI and Alaska Digitel (AKD).
The terms of this multi-year agreement call for GCI to share certain infrastructure components that ClearSky is currently
providing for AKDs CDMA network operation, while other components and services will be designed specifically for
GCIs GSM network. The comprehensive end-to-end solution will include hosted WAP and MMS-C service, along with
ProPortal, ProVantage, ProVision, ProConfig, RevShare and ProTrends BI integrated
support systems. Taken together, these products and services will enable GCI to boost its ARPU by offering its subscribers
access to the mobile web, multi-media messaging, downloadable content, and more.
The fact that GCI operates both GSM and CDMA wireless networks under separate brands presents both an opportunity
and a challenge for GCIs data services offering, said Paul Landes, GCI Vice President/General Manager of
consumer services. In ClearSky we found an organization that possessed both the business acumen and technical expertise
required to design a solution that was both cost-effective and technically superior to all other competing services.
Since their inception, GCI has maintained a singular objective to provide Alaskans with a broad array of world class
telecommunications products and services, said ClearSky executive vice president of sales, Tony Tagliareni.
We are delighted to receive their endorsement and to provide GCI with the necessary tools and infrastructure they need
to maximize their data ARPU and effectively compete with regional and national carriers.
