ClearSky’s ProConfig OTA hosted application transmits mobile Web, home deck URL, and MMS configurations to GSM phones, thereby helping carriers reduce customer care costs and increase revenues by enabling subscribers to use advanced data services. The Device Management Server (DMS) activates, configures and updates all major device types and formats. The DMS is updated frequently to support the very latest devices and parameters available.
Our carrier clients’ customer service representatives have access to the DMS Web Server through a simple-to-use Web page, on which they enter a mobile phone number and the model of the phone. The DMS, cross-referencing its customer profile and configuration database, generates and sends a configuration SMS message via your SMS-C. When the user accepts the inbound message, the new settings are installed.
ProConfig also supports configuration of all handsets in the field at one time; this is very powerful if handsets are already in the hands of customers. Using a database of mobile phone numbers matched with handset models, this “mass push” feature sends an update SMS message to all handsets.
Even with mass push, the Web interface is still important because some subscribers won’t understand the inbound message and may delete it. The interface also facilitates resolution of individual customer care issues such as handset upgrades or replacements.
